Ceremony to Honor Louisiana Adoptive Families
Balloon animals, face painting, speakers and awards planned for event
: The 12th Annual Adoption Reception Celebration at the Governor's Mansion will celebrate Louisiana families and their newly adopted children. Over the last year, a record number of 640 Louisiana children were adopted by 461 families. The event also marks Adoption Awareness Month in Louisiana. WHEN:

The Community Support Award and Adoption Advocate Awards will be presented.
Additionally, the St. Michael the Archangel High School Jazz Band will perform. Children's entertainment, face painting and balloon animals will provided by "Bubbles the Clown" and "Trixie." WHY:
Governor Bobby Jindal has proclaimed November Adoption Awareness Month. Over the last year, 640 Louisiana children were adopted by 461 families.
There were 4,300 children in Louisiana's foster care program as of September 2010, cared for by approximately 2,000 foster families, as well as in residential programs. More than 554 of these children are available for adoption. About 56 children in Louisiana become eligible for adoption each month.
