Dear Child Care Provider,
Flu Season has arrived; early preparation and implementation of preventive measures are essential.
To ensure that parents have information that will help them take appropriate precautionary actions, Senate Bill 171 (Act 343)
was passed during the 2009 Legislative Session. It requires licensed child care facilities to make specified information concerning the influenza immunization available to each child's parent or legal guardian.
To fulfill the legislative requirement, download and print this 2010 influenza information sheet "Flu Facts,"
developed by Department of Health and Hospitals staff.
This information must be made available to each child's parent or legal guardian by prominently posting it in an area of your center that is accessible to all parents and guardians. The information sheet shall be posted upon your receipt of the information.
By providing parents with this information and by taking the recommended preventative actions in your centers, the Department of Children and Family Services hopes to minimize the effects of this year's flu season on the children served in your facilities.
