Bureau of Policy, Planning and Evaluation
- Serves as the coordinating unit for DSS planning, policy formulation and issuance, rulemaking, and evaluation and research.
- Coordinates the dissemination of DSS policy, procedures, and departmental memoranda on the DSS Policy Management System.
- Develops standardized processes for utilization by all DSS Offices in the development of policies, rules, plans, and evaluations.
- Serves as a clearinghouse for planning, policy, and evaluation data.
- Tracks state legislation impacting DSS during regular and special sessions.
- Reviews and analyzes state and federal legislation and regulations.
- Prepares position papers and special studies/reports relative to DSS programmatic or administrative duties.
- Provides project management for the one-time Social Services Block Grant - 2005 (Hurricanes Rita/Katrina) Recovery Supplement that includes:
- development and administration of Memoranda of Understanding and contracts as well as oversight and monitoring
- providing technical assistance to partners
- nterfacing with DSS OM&F Budget and other state recovery partners such as Louisiana Recovery Authority
- Directs and manages Neighborhood Place
- Neighborhood Place is a partnership of public and private sector agencies that have come together to create a network of community-based “one-stop” service centers.
- The purpose is to provide blended and accessible health, education, employment and human services that support children and families in their progress toward self-sufficiency.
