DCFS is responding to the 2010 Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill. We are helping to meet the needs of individuals and families that have been economically affected by the Deepwater Horizon incident.

DCFS currently has 12 active SNAP Outreach sites in seven coastal parishes assisting impacted citizens apply for and receive needed assistance.

Pre-Apply Online now for Disaster Food Stamps All low- to moderate-income Louisianians may be eligible for Disaster Food Stamp benefits in the event of a natural disaster and should pre-apply now for benefits online or by phone. Current SNAP recipients do not need to pre-apply and would receive disaster benefits automatically.


Apply for Assistance Apply for Assistance Programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamps), the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), the Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP) or the Kinship Care Subsidy Program (KCSP) with this universal application. Find more information about programs and the application.
TOTS logo TOTS (Tracking of Time Services)Beginning in summer 2010, CCAP participants will use an electronic time and attendance process to keep track of the time their children spend in the care of a CCAP provider. DCFS will then use this information to pay CCAP providers. Provider Portal
Quality Start Quality StartAn innovative program improving the quality of child care in Louisiana by awarding a rating system of stars to participating centers, while providing tax credits for the facility, its personnel and parents.

08.30.10 Louisiana’s Disaster Food Stamp Pre-Application Receives National Award 08.30.10 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has received the 2010 Recognition Award for Excellence in Human Services Information Technology Award for the DSNAP pre-application program, which allows low- to moderate-income Louisiana residents who think they could be impacted by a disaster to pre-apply for benefits online or by phone.
