DCFS Seeks Injunction Against Unlicensed Child Care Provider in Calcasieu Parish 02.28.12 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has filed a petition seeking a preliminary and permanent injunction against Glynn and Rose Richard for operating an unlicensed child care facility, Mo Mo's Home Care, in Calcasieu Parish. The provider admitted to keeping up to 22 children at any given time. December Child Support Round-Up Accounts for more than $74,000 from Delinquent Parents Owing more than $1.1 million 01.23.12 -- The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) today announced totals from a December child support round-up that resulted in 126 arrests of non-custodial parents owing more than $1.1 million.
Louisiana Safe Haven Law Provides Alternative to Abandoning Newborns; 01.18.12 - Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) Secretary Ruth Johnson said today that a mom who allegedly abandoned a newborn outside her home in St. Tammany Parish on Monday could have utilized Louisiana's Safe Haven law, which provides a legal means for parents to anonymously give up custody of infants without the threat of prosecution for neglect, abandonment or child cruelty. DCFS Announces $8 Million in Mid-Year Budget Reductions 12.16.11 -- The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services today announced a reduction of $8 million in state general funds for FY 2012.
DCFS Continues to Add to Casino Intercept Winnings in Baton Rouge, Lafayette 12.13.11 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has intercepted casino winnings from 21 non-custodial parents totaling more than $41,000. The casino interception initiative has expanded to five casinos since the launch of the pilot program in September with one more expected to be active later this week.
